You shouldn’t wear this Bitcoin shirt — here’s why

Everyone has their own sense of style, but if you’re wearing Bitcoin merchandise in public, like the shirt in X’s post below, you should probably stop.

This Bitcoin shirt is really disgusting.

I also agree with this post in that this shirt is disgusting as shit and will only attract unwanted attention.

Most people don’t understand Bitcoin and its adjacent terminology. If you wear this in public, most people won’t even notice it and will completely forget about it and go about their day. So if you’re wearing a shirt, you’re not bending over as much as you think.

But some people who see you wearing it know what it means, and it can lead to bad consequences.

If you wear a shirt that tells everyone that you own a full amount of Bitcoin (i.e., in the form of bearer assets, essentially $100,000 at the time of writing), you probably have a target on your back. will just be placed.

can’t believe it?

In November of this year, the CEO of Canadian company WonderFi was kidnapped and held for ransom. And most recently, a Pakistani cryptocurrency trader was kidnapped and forced to pay his kidnappers $340,000 from his Binance account.

I don’t mean to scare anyone, but things like this can happen and you should at least avoid being in that situation.

These criminals may or may not know how Bitcoin works. And if they don’t know, things are probably even worse. Because they may think you have everything on one exchange, or that your private keys are in one place where they can easily get them, they probably think you’re an easy target. Because it is. And if you tell them you can’t physically part with the coins and they don’t believe you, things can get ugly quickly.

I’m not saying never tell anyone about Bitcoin or keep it 100% secret. I mean, I’m a public figure in this area, and I’ve been thinking about how to most effectively limit the possibility of something bad like this happening. To me. Bitcoin security is important, but so is your personal security. Fortunately, I am an American and have Second Amendment rights. Protecting Bitcoin from a potential $5 wrench attack is much easier with firearms.

If you’re proud of owning 1 Bitcoin outright, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating it. Because that is a feat that most people on earth will never be able to accomplish.

However, my advice is to celebrate in a more private way. For example, make sure no one attends except your family and very close friends you trust. If you want to have a really deep conversation about it, or get a dopamine boost from other anons celebrating your accomplishments, you can post anonymously online on X or Reddit.

Don’t tell people how much Bitcoin you own. Also, don’t wear shirts that reveal it. Stay humble and accumulate more Bitcoins.

This article is a take. The opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of BTC Inc or Bitcoin Magazine.
