A “Help Needed” sign hangs in the window of a restaurant in Medford, Massachusetts, on January 25, 2023. brian snyder reuterNonfarm payrolls are expected to recover — just barely — in March as the bar for a healthy labor market continues to get lower. The U.S. economy is expected to add 59,000 jobs in the month, an anemic figure by the standards of previous years this decade, but enough to keep the unemployment rate at 4.4%.If this estimate is reasonably accurate, it would actually mean above-trend job growth in a labor market where virtually no jobs have been created over the…
Lawmakers have reportedly circulated proposed changes to stablecoin yields to a small group of banking and cryptocurrency industry representatives.Politico reports that crypto companies are expected to review proposals first, followed by banks, although the schedule is subject to change. The draft is tightly controlled, and previously interested parties were only allowed to review it on-site without retaining a copy.A select group of banking and crypto industry executives will reportedly consider amended legal language governing stablecoin yields in a closed session over the next two days, in hopes of passing the CLARITY Act in the Senate by the end of April. The…

Private sector job growth in March was slightly better than expected, but health care and construction continued to provide nearly all the momentum, payroll firm ADP reported on Wednesday.Employment growth for the month totaled 62,000 jobs, down just 4,000 from February’s upwardly revised level, but above the Dow Jones consensus of 39,000. ADP’s report does not include government employees.Similar to February’s report, two sectors delivered virtually all the gains.Education and health services contributed 58,000 jobs (same as February’s total) and construction added 30,000 jobs. Total health care spending was subdued last month after the resolution of a strike at Kaiser…
Opinion: Francesco Mosterts, Umia co-founder.Cryptocurrencies pride themselves on being market-driven systems. Prices, incentives, and capital flows determine everything from token valuations to lending rates and demand for block space. Markets are the main adjustment mechanism for industries. But when it comes to governance, cryptocurrencies suddenly abandon the market completely.Recent governance disputes in key protocols have once again exposed tensions within DAO decision-making. Participation remains extremely small and influence remains highly concentrated. A study of 50 DAOs found a “recognizable pattern of low token holder engagement,” showing that one large voter can sway 35% of the outcome, and four or fewer…

Gas prices displayed at a Mobil gas station in Pasadena, California on March 30, 2026. Tama Mario | Getty ImagesAs part of an ongoing supply shock in energy markets, gasoline prices above $4 a gallon may appear to be a signal for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates to stem inflation. That seems like a bad bet, at least for now.Instead, investors expect the central bank to keep rates unchanged or even cut them later this year, as policymakers consider the risk that rising energy prices will slow growth rather than sustaining inflation. In market-moving remarks, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome…
