Core U.S. consumer prices rose less than expected in December, reinforcing hopes that inflation is under control as the Federal Reserve considers its next move on interest rates.The Consumer Price Index, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted monthly basis and 2.6% on an annual basis, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Tuesday.
