Nelly, the famous rapper behind popular songs like “Air Force Ones” and “Hot in Here,” will not face charges following his arrest at a casino in St. Louis last August, as announced by prosecutors on Tuesday.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Chris King stated, “The facts of this case do not justify bringing charges.”

Born Cornell Haynes II, Nelly was taken into custody on August 7 due to an existing warrant over a lack of insurance, as indicated by reports from state police and statements from his attorney. It was also reported that Nelly was thought to have had four ecstasy pills in his possession.

The Maryland Heights Police Department explained that Nelly’s arrest stemmed from his failure to appear in court regarding a past traffic violation, following his detainment by state police.

His attorney, Scott Rosenblum, mentioned that Nelly was unaware of the outstanding warrant prior to the arrest and claimed that his client had been “singled out by an overly eager and erratic police officer” after he had reportedly won a substantial amount of money at the casino.

Although Nelly was born in Texas, he relocated to St. Louis during his childhood, where he was raised.
