The Justice Department announced Thursday that it is moving to ease regulations on state-licensed medical marijuana and open the door to more research and treatment options.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a post on
Schedule I drugs also include heroin, ecstasy, and LSD and are considered more dangerous and are more strictly regulated.
Blanche said FDA-approved marijuana and state-approved marijuana will now be classified as Schedule III drugs, defined as “drugs with a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence.”
