Less than 50% of XRPL nodes switched to Ripple xrpld v3.2.0

Almost a month after Ripple shipped xrpld v3.2.0, its renamed successor. Ripple Core server software, XRPScan data shows: Only 357 (43%) of the total 828 XRP Ledger nodes made the switch, with 426 nodes (51%) remaining on v3.1.3.

This is not just slow deployment. This is a structural diagram of the two-tier governance dynamics that define the XRPL upgrade cycle. Validator consensus runs far ahead of the broader node ecosystem, and the functional readiness of the network is determined by the former rather than the latter.

We’re a community (40+ developers and 9 newcomers) – shipping XRP Ledger 3.2.0 with many great protocol improvements, including the migration to xrpld.

34% are already using 3.2.0.

Please update your nodes as soon as possible.

This drop in XRP USD data comes as XRP has fallen -3.5% over the past 24 hours, dropping back below $1.10 and currently trading at $1.09, with a daily trading volume of $1.54 billion.

With this price decline, $1.10 has once again become a resistance level for XRP USD and will continue to act as a barrier to a larger move until this level can be reversed and closed above on the weekly chart.

$XRP has formed a hidden bearish divergence on the daily time frame. XRP needs to get back to $1.15 soon or things could get worse on the way back to $1.00. pic.twitter.com/YXzlS0xDi5

Introducing XRPL nodes: UNL threshold already cleared

The operationally important number is that 89% (31 out of 35) of Unique Node List (UNL) validators are already running v3.2.0, rather than the 43% overall adoption rate.

The XRP Ledger requires 80% UNL participation to treat a software version as fully adopted. This means that the network already considers xrpld v3.2.0 to be the de facto standard. According to the same data, around 61% of validators running the Ripple version of the software have also been upgraded.

For non-UNL nodes, upgrades are optional for now, but the incentive structure will be strengthened once the relevant fixes become effective. If a node lags after activation, it risks losing network connectivity, which is a factor that pressured deployment during the v3.1.3 / Cleanup31_ cycle in late May 2026.

The v3.2.0 release formalizes the core server rebranding from rippled to xrpld in accordance with the XLS-0095 specification, reducing memory usage across network nodes by 30% to 40%, directly reducing infrastructure costs for institutional investors.

This update also improves security, developer tools, and network efficiency, building on bug fixes and improvements to allowed domains and containers introduced in the v3.1.3 maintenance release.

The XRP Ledger has introduced new v3.2.0 server software to reduce costs and improve stability, but important on-chain amendments are stuck in the voting process.

Of approximately 833 active nodes, only 43% have installed the June 15 update, and 51% are still running old v3.1.3… pic.twitter.com/f1abBDD1ah

fixCleanup3_2_0 Fix: Voting is not yet enabled

The accompanying XRPL fix, fixCleanup3_2_0, is a more time-sensitive governance item. At the time of reporting, it has only received 17 of the 35 required UNL validator votes, giving it 48.57% support for the 80% threshold (28 votes) needed for validation.

The revised governance model also requires support to remain above 80% for a continuous two-week window. Drops reset the timer, so be careful when tracking activation data.

Once fixCleanup3_2_0 clears its criteria, fixes for single asset containers, native lending protocols, multipurpose tokens, permitted domains, and permitted DEXs will be deployed.

These features were introduced in the 2026 amendment wave of XRPL, including XLS-81 (Permitted DEX), XLS-85 (Token Escrow), Permitted Domains (enabled on April 2, 2026), and XLS-65/66 (Vault Lending Protocol). This makes fixCleanup3_2_0 an integrated fix rather than an entirely new feature.

What Ripple node operators and institutional participants should pay attention to

(Source: TradingView)

The analytical question is no longer whether Ripple’s v3.2.0 rollout has enough validator support. That’s right. The question is whether votes for fixCleanup3_2_0 can gain traction from 48.57% to the 80% activation threshold, and whether widespread nodes will migrate before the fix takes effect, increasing connectivity risk.

The validator voting timeline appears to be a more significant signal for XRPL’s DeFi infrastructure participants. This is because the fixes included in the validator affect all major protocol surfaces.

This includes vaulting, the XRP Ledger’s native lending protocol, permissioned exchange rails, and token standards enabled over the past few months. Node operators who have not yet migrated to xrpld v3.2.0 have a narrowing window of time before the fix pressure builds.
