Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband and her father of two children died after a three-year battle with cancer, his representative said Thursday.
He was 48 years old.
“It’s extremely sad to share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a Blackstock spokesman said in a statement.
“Brandon bravely fought cancer for over three years. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the privacy of your family during this extremely difficult time.”
Clarkson announced Wednesday that she will postpone the rest of the “Studio Session” concert in Las Vegas this month to support her family.
The “American Idol” star told fans on Instagram that she prioritizes the needs of her loved ones.
“I usually keep my personal life a secret, but for the past year, my child’s father has been ill and at this point must be fully present for them,” the three-time Grammy winner wrote.
