Inflation has cooled in recent years, but open US participants may be experiencing the aftertaste while drinking the iconic Tennis Championship drink.

The so-called honey deuce comes with an eye-opening price tag of $23. The drinks are the same as last year, but have risen six times since 2012, surpassing inflation over the past decade.

Vodka-based drinks have become synonymous with New York City-based events. It is decorated with honeydew melon chunks that resemble tennis balls and is served in souvenir glass.

According to NBC New York, the US Open sold over 550,000 cocktails last year, bringing about $13 million in revenue.

As tennis fans descended to New York for the two-week event, CNBC calculated how the price changes at Honey Deuce occurred compared to wider inflation.

Honey Deuce enthusiasts are firing about 53% more than in 2015, according to Sportico price trackers.

This is higher than wider inflation, as tracked by the Consumer Price Index or CPI. CPI, which monitors a wide range of products and services, rose by about 36% between August 2015 and July 2025.

In other words, if Honey Deuce rises in parallel with overall inflation, it costs around $20.33 today. The American Tennis Association, which operates the facility where the US opens, did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Honey Deuce prices are rising at a faster clip than other alcoholic drinks purchased outside of U.S. city homes. This average cost increased nearly 34% between August 2015 and July 2025, resulting in slightly lower inflation than the entire CPI basket.
