The “Romantic Homicide” singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 21, was being held without bail, Los Angeles police said in a statement.

The case is scheduled to be filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, the office said.

Burke’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday night.

On September 8, police discovered the body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez in the trunk of a Tesla that was seized in Hollywood Tow. Officers were dispatched to the scene because of a strange odor coming from the vehicle.

Mr. Burke is the subject of a grand jury investigation into Mr. Rivas’ death, according to court filings from earlier this year.

Rivas was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, southeast of Los Angeles, last year. She was last seen on April 5, 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl was wearing black leggings, a tube top, a yellow metal chain bracelet and stud earrings when she was found, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Law enforcement officials told NBC News that the body was not intact. The coroner said it appeared she had been dead in the car for an extended period of time.

Burke was on a Wizarding World tour when news of the body’s discovery first broke. A spokesperson said at the time that the company was aware of what had happened and was “cooperating fully with authorities.”

Burke subsequently canceled the remainder of his U.S. tour.
