It seems strange to discuss the US presidential election based on attitudes towards cryptocurrencies, but as I blogged previously, Donald Trump is very pro-cryptocurrency. His attitude changed with the NFT of his image. There is no such thing as narcissism.
At the time, I was blogging about Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden and how Biden looked like the loser. We currently have Donald Trump vs. Kamala Harris, and after this week’s presidential debate, it looks like Harris is rising and Trump is falling. After all, something is wrong when you rely on the argument that immigrants are eating local dogs and cats.
Nevertheless, as the discussion progressed, I began to wonder about the Democratic Party’s position on cryptocurrencies. Ultimately, support for or attacks on the use of virtual currency exchanges by the United States will have a major impact on the worldview of virtual currencies.
I recently hypothesized that the presidency could hinge on cryptocurrencies. After all, according to Pew Research, about 1 in 5 American adults own some form of cryptocurrency, but they are not convinced that such investments are safe. .
But will this be the core battleground? I don’t know.
So what does Kamala Harris think about cryptocurrencies?
I’m not sure. Harris has never publicly talked about cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology or non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and the few indirect messages she has sent do not paint a clear picture.
One person you may know is Mark Cuban. Mark Cuban is an American businessman, investor, and television host. He is one of the main “sharks” in the television series “Shark Tank”, has a strong influence on public opinion and is a defender of cryptocurrencies. Mr. Cuban said Mr. Trump is using the crypto card to win the next election.
In an interview with Politico, Cuban said Kamala Harris would be “much more open to business,[artificial intelligence]cryptocurrencies and government as a service.” Changing the policy changes the message and lets everyone know that she is in charge and is literally open for business. ”
However, Bitcoin Conference CEO David Bailey took a different view, saying, “I’m sorry, but I’m sorry to hear that (a) major Democratic donor has personally said to me, “Bitcoin is “It’s criminal money,” he tweeted.
What I didn’t know is that Kamala Harris has a deep background in the technology industry. Prior to joining the Senate in 2017, he served as California Attorney General, focusing on regulating the technology industry. During this time, she developed strong connections in Silicon Valley, befriended influential people like Laurene Powell Jobs, and had family ties to Tony West, Uber’s chief legal officer.
Former Meta executive Sheryl Sandberg on Monday called her “the strongest candidate to move our country forward.” Reed Hastings, Netflix’s executive chairman, congratulated Harris on the X-Post and said, “Now is the time to win.”
In other words, we don’t know. Trump has openly promoted cryptocurrencies as the future. Although Harris has been on the sidelines, she appears to be quietly supporting technological innovation, including that of cryptocurrencies.
Both therefore offer interesting insights into the future of crypto investing and regulation.
From the Democratic Party’s perspective, it appears that stricter regulation is needed in this area, and they do not seem satisfied with this form of digital assets. This is why the Digital Chamber sent the following letter to Mr. Camara’s office:
“The party has a negative view of digital assets, largely due to the Biden/Harris administration’s markedly cautious and sometimes hostile approach to these innovative technologies. There’s a public perception that there is. Your candidacy for president is an opportunity to change that perception.”
I think my conclusion is consistent with the view expressed by The Defiant:
The Trump campaign is already accepting donations in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and is gaining support from industry leaders such as Cathie Wood and Elon Musk… Trump’s supportive public statements come as the cryptocurrency industry He is currently setting a high bar for what to expect from presidential candidates. All eyes are now on whether Harris can live up to those expectations.
