What Changes Can We Expect from the Justice Department in Trump’s Second Term?

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department, following Matt Gaetz’s withdrawal from consideration.

Bondi has previously advocated for the prosecution of prosecutors she deems “bad,” especially those who charged Trump regarding his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. She falsely suggested that members of the Justice Department and the FBI conspired against him, accusing them of being part of a so-called “deep state” aiming to destabilize his presidency.

Trump has also tapped Todd Blanche, who previously acted as Trump’s chief criminal defense lawyer in the Stormy Daniels case, to serve as his second-in-command at the Justice Department.

Some individuals within the Justice Department express concern over Blanche’s capacity to challenge Trump, given their history together. However, there remains a sliver of hope that he might protect certain interests of the broader populace.

“There is a sense of optimism around Blanche,” noted one official, acknowledging his credentials as a legitimate lawyer and former Justice Department member, but added that this outlook stems from low expectations.”

Three Arrested in Connection with Rabbi’s Murder in UAE

In a significant development, UAE authorities have apprehended three individuals related to the murder of an Israeli Moldovan rabbi. The deceased, Rabbi Zvi Kogan, represented the prominent Chabad-Lubavitch organization in Abu Dhabi and had been missing since Thursday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised that the country would pursue justice against those responsible for the rabbi’s death rigorously.

Additionally, over the weekend, a shooting incident near the Israeli embassy in Jordan resulted in the death of a gunman and the injury of three police officers. Jordan’s communications minister, Mohamed Momani, labeled the attack as a terrorist act directed at the country’s security forces.

Urologist Faces Allegations of Sexual Abuse

BR, who prefers to go by her initials, reported the actions of Dr. Darius Paduk to another urologist at Weill Cornell in 2011, but no action was taken.Maansi Srivastava appears on NBC News

A 27-year-old patient, referred to as BR, began seeing urologist Darius Paduk, MD, in 2006 while dealing with groin pain.

BR claims that Paduk coerced her into inappropriate acts and took photographs without consent. She reported the matter to hospital officials in 2018, yet Paduk treated patients for another year and remained in his position until he was fired in March 2020.

After being admitted to a Long Island hospital, at least one complaint about his conduct made its way to management. He was arrested in April 2023 and is now charged with sexually abusing seven former patients, including five minors.

BR is among hundreds of men taking legal action against the hospital for allegedly allowing Paducci to carry out sexual abuses while neglecting to prevent them.

Senator Suggests Attorney General Clean-up

On Meet the Press, Senator Eric Schmidt (R-Missouri) stated that one of Trump’s key goals for his next term should be to remove Justice Department officials linked to any cases against him.

“The first step is to immediately terminate those involved,” Schmidt asserted during his conversation with host Kristen Welker.

He claimed that these officials are engaged in a conspiracy to hinder Trump politically and throw him in prison due to ideological differences.

Schmidt expressed his support for Pam Bondi, labeling her appointment as a “major win for Trump,” and pledged to assist in rallying support for her.

Thanksgiving Dinner Prices Decline

Despite what you might think from looking at the total cost, Thanksgiving meals are now cheaper than they have been in years.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s survey, turkey prices are down 6% compared to last year, sweet potatoes have dropped by 26%, and fresh cranberries are at their lowest since 2015.

While many families may not feel this price relief, a report from the AFBF suggests that some items in the basket have long-term favorable pricing trends, even as purchasing power declines.

Chef Caroline Cho shares ideas with NBC News on how to refresh your Thanksgiving side dishes with banchan, traditional Korean accompaniments.

Box Office Success for “Wicked” and “Gladiator II”

Universal; Paramount Pictures

Movie enthusiasts are celebrating! The opening weekend of “Wicked,” a film adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway musical, brought in an impressive $114 million domestically. Meanwhile, “Gladiator II,” a sequel to the acclaimed 2000 film, earned approximately $55.5 million.

Although this duo didn’t quite reach the “Barbenheimer” heights of last year, it still created a buzz akin to that of major cinematic events, complete with costumes and merchandise.

“This is an exhilarating moment,” remarked a fan who attended both premieres. “There’s a thriving theater crowd, and plenty of people are just looking for a fun time at the cinema. The energy is fantastic.”

In Case You Missed It

Weather forecasts predict a chilly and wet Thanksgiving week as winter storms sweep across the country. At a significant climate change conference in Azerbaijan, nearly 50,000 attendees from 200 countries highlighted growing concerns about global issues. New data from the Labor Department indicates that childcare costs have risen so high that many families are reducing their living expenses to afford daycare. A $6 million banana has captured the internet’s imagination following a unique art showcase.
