LONDON – President Donald Trump traded pageants for politics on Thursday as he finished a gorgeous stay hosted by British King Charles III at Windsor Castle and prepared to meet with Country Residence Prime Minister Kielstarmer.
Trump praised “the ties between America and Britain and the identity between the UK” on Wednesday during a gorgeous banquet in Windsor as “valuable and eternal.”
But the cold geopolitical reality may begin as he sits with the tapering, followed by a collaborative press conference where he can test the subtle emotions that could highlight these warm emotions.
As Britain seeks to deepen its economic ties with the US and hold difficult conversations about Israeli attacks in Gaza and Russian war in Ukraine, he has luxuriously honoured Trump with admiration and royal dignity to curry favor with Washington.
The pair is expected to sign a multi-billion dollar “technical prosperity agreement” that UK authorities hope to bring thousands of jobs and sweep investments to the UK
“Our country has the closest defence, security and intelligence relationship ever known,” Charles said in a speech addressing Trump after unfolding the royal red carpet. “In two world wars, we worked together to defeat the forces of tyranny. Today, as tyranny threatens Europe again, we and our allies will stand together in support of Ukraine, blocking aggression and ensuring peace.”
Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelenkie thanked the king for “his unstable support” early on Thursday, as sanctions against Russia and Kiev’s security guarantees continued to cling to the point between Washington, London and other European powers.
There may also be difficult questions about the heat atmospheres that each leader handles at home. Trump arrived in the UK in the wake of the fatal shootings of Charlie Kirk, but his host is plagued by far-right protests, sinking poll ratings and a recent scandal that could see Jeffrey Epstein hanging out on Thursday’s diplomatic events.
Even at Windsor Castle, protesters projected images of Trump in protests where four people were arrested.
And on the streets of London, thousands attended protest marches that culminated in rallies outside Parliament.
A recent poll highlighting Britain’s sentiment towards the president found that 70% of Britons disliked Trump and 44% said they thought he should cancel his state visit.
According to the Associated Press, President Trump is expected to be welcomed by the ceremonial honor guards at Starmer’s country house on Thursday, with Bagpiper paying homage to Trump’s Scottish heritage.
The President is also expected to show items from Winston Churchill’s archives. Winston Churchill coined the term “special relationship.”
