On Saturday, October 11, a crowd of students and onlookers gathered at the entrance to the H7 startup incubator in Lyon, a townhouse overlooking the Rhône River. It was the fourth stop for the Crypto Tour, an annual event aimed at young people seeking training in blockchain financial technology and building a career in the field.
Tickets sold out within weeks. Organizers are expecting more than 600 participants, most of them students, but also “a lot of curious people between the ages of 30 and 40.” Participants had the opportunity to participate in master classes, panel discussions and network with experts in the cryptocurrency field in a “calm and relaxed atmosphere”. The entry fee is modest for students at 15 euros and was deliberately set to attract tomorrow’s young crypto entrepreneurs.
Rafael Portard, 22, who was taking a year off from his studies at IAE Lyon III at the time, led the conference, which he co-founded with entrepreneur Marvin Scaringera, a graduate of Marseille’s Kedge Business School. “We literally tripled our budget, tripled our communication, and tripled our work hours,” said Potard, who put aside the sleepless nights and hopes to make this event a must-attend event for the next generation of crypto entrepreneurs.
