Tron Dao shares post-event analysis of X account hacks. The protocol hopes that OKX will help freeze funds belonging to the community.
For a while, Tron Dao’s X-page was surrounded by hackers who used unauthorized access to publish posts with contract addresses. As a result, Tron founder Justin Sun urged cryptocurrency exchange okx to freeze funds that are believed to be linked to the exploit.
Hackers get busy with the Tron Dao Ecosystem
Earlier on May 3, Tron Foundation’s Tron Dao confirmed that his X account had been breached the day before. Once in, the hacker created a post with the contract address.
We recognize that the X account was compromised from PST on May 2, 2025 at 9:25am. During this time, the fraudulent party published posts containing contract addresses (CAs), sent messages (DMS) directly, and followed a variety of accounts unknown to us.

Hackers also sent messages directly to some accounts while clicking on the “follow” button on other X profiles. Tron Dao claimed that none of the actions were completed with permission.
“Tron Dao will not post contract addresses or send unsolicited DMs. If you receive a DM from your account on May 2nd, please delete it and consider it an attacker’s job,” the protocol revealed.
As confirmed, the exploit came from a loophole traced by members of the team. “Our team members targeted malicious social engineering attacks, which compromised our accounts,” Tron Dao said.
According to the DAO, logging out the perpetrator and restoring Tron’s access was not enough to stop the damage initiated by the hackers. The hackers were still able to contact others and provided posts from their Tron Dao main account in exchange for payment. It is said that some funds were stolen while the hackers were managing their X accounts.
Justin Sun asks OKX to freeze funds
In a twist on the plot, the hackers transferred the sucked funds into a wallet linked to OKX, according to a post from Justin San. As a result, he asked the exchange to ensure that the assets would not be moved further and to intervene to assist with the investigation.
In response, OKX CEO Star Xu told Sun that his company has a policy of cooperation with public law enforcement.
This is a list of guidelines and procedures that require law enforcement to work with other organizations. This allowed them to share information with the public, government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Xu shared a link to a reporting channel where Tron Dao can drop evidence of the case.
Dear his Justin Sun, OKX has a public policy of cooperation. Preliminary evidence of an incident can be provided through the public reporting channel (https://t.co/pbap28camy). A temporary emergency freeze will be carried out according to the evidence. Next, you need to work with le…https://t.co/hpaqiyf7sj

He also assured the Tron founders that a temporary freeze would occur, based on the evidence provided. If the attacked protocol plans to extend the freeze, you should provide legal documents to OKX. This is part of the exchange’s consumer protection policy.
Crypto companies support each during hack
Although OKX writes its policy, it is worth noting that Sun’s demands from Crypto Exchange are not new in the broader market.
Crypto exchanges do not consider it “a big deal” to request assistance from their counterparts whenever they receive an attack or violation. The decentralized trading platform Kiloex was recently attacked, resulting in users losing $7.5 million.
Soon, Binance announced it had successfully recovered $6.1 million of stolen funds. This recovered fund amounted to 90% of the total stolen assets.
Binance CEO Richard Teng said the exchange’s security team acted quickly when Kiloex exploits were detected and reported. This effort was supported by additional cooperation in investigating the case.
