This Thursday, the brightest names in Latin music will come together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Latin Grammy Awards in Miami, the heart of Latin America and the home of the Latin Recording Academy.
Among the nominees is producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera, who has received the most nominations for the second consecutive year. Notable mentions also include Karol G and Bad Bunny, both of whom are returning after their success at the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards held in Seville, Spain.
Additional nominees include Kali Uchis, Juan Luis Guerra, Fayed, Cani García, and Karin León.
As reported by Variety, in the Recording of the Year category, both Camilo and Karin León are recognized for their collaboration “Una Vida Pasada.” Additionally, Uchis and Peso Pluma have been nominated for their song “Igual Que Un Ángel.”
This year’s Latin Grammy Awards introduce exciting new categories, including Best Latin Electronic Music Performance and Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album, marking their debut in the event.
In total, there are now 58 categories in the awards, with the stipulation that to be eligible, at least 60% of the song’s lyrics must be in Spanish, Portuguese, or a local dialect.
“As we celebrate the 25th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, our awards process is more robust than ever, with our members reviewing over 23,000 submissions this year,” stated Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy.
He further expressed, “The Latin Grammy Awards have grown tremendously, becoming an essential platform for music and culture. I am proud to present this year’s nominations to you.”
The iconic gramophone trophy features a burgundy base, differentiating it from its American version, which has a black base.
The festivities will take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami starting at 8 PM ET, and viewers can watch the event live on Univision, Galavisión, and ViX.
