Turkish and Caicos police found the man’s body during a search of an American who reported missing nearby almost two weeks ago, local authorities said over the weekend.
The Royal Turkish Islands and Caicos Islands Police (RTCIPF) said they received a call about 5:06pm reporting “corpores found in some bushes.” According to a July 6 statement, authorities were sent to the location along Miracle Close in Grace Bay to find the body.
The dead man was not immediately named, but efforts are underway to confirm their identity.
“The police in the Royal Turkish and Caicos Islands will extend the meaning of sincere pacity to the family and friends of the deceased,” a representative of police Rodney Adams said in a statement on July 5th.
Police declined to make direct links between the discovery and the search for Brian Tarence, a 51-year-old New York City resident, who was last seen at the Paradise Inn near Grace Bay Beach on June 25th.
Security footage showed the Tarence left the Paradise Inn Condo around 4am on June 25th and headed for the town of Grace Bay.
“We encourage the public to refrain from speculation and to confirm their identity through official channels,” Addams added.
