ESPN’s Discussion and Discussion Show, which has been a staple of sports networks for over 23 years, announced on Tuesday that it will air its final episode on May 23rd.
The program premiered on November 4th, 2002 by host Max Kellerman and produced over 4,900 episodes. After Kellerman left ESPN to Fox Sports, Tony Reali took over in 2004 and has been at the helm ever since.
“There’s been an astounding run around the corner for over 20 years. David Roberts, executive VP of ESPN and executive editor of Sports News and Entertainment, said in a statement. “We are particularly grateful to the production team led by Eric Rideholm and Aaron Solomon, beyond the ensemble of Tony and On-Air contributors.
Long-standing panelists include Ja Adande, Kevin Blackistone, Tim Cowlishaw, Jemele Hill, Frank Isola, Bomani Jones, Mina Kimes, Jackie MacMullan, Woody Paige, Bill Plaschke, and Bob Ryan.
According to ESPN, the 30-minute edition of “SportsCenter” will air on weekdays during the summer at 5pm ET.
