Comedian Matt Life said he and YouTuber Elton Castee are now legal guardians of Annabelle.
“We are the legal guardian and caretaker of all 750 ghost artifacts and items at the Warren Museum, including Annabelle dolls. Please go out on the record and say I don’t legally own the items.
Rife, 29, announced in an Instagram post Friday that he and Casty, 35, had purchased the Warrens home and museum in Monroe, Connecticut.
Tony Spera, Warrens’ son-in-law and co-director of the New England Psychic Research Association, the late couple’s organization, revealed that he and his wife still own a collection of Warrens, including Annabelle Doll.
“We have no plans to “sell” artifacts,” he said in a statement.
Ed and Lorraine Warren’s paranormal investigations have been transformed into the horror films The Conjuring, Annabelle and The Nun. Actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga play Ed and Lorraine in the franchise.
“The Conjuring: Last Rites” is the latest film in the series and will be released in September.
“If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with paranormals and everything,” Rife captioned a photo of herself and Casty posing with a doll. “You may also know that the compilation film is my favorite scary film, so I am extremely honored to have taken over one of the most prominent traits in paranormal history.
Life said he plans to open the house for “a overnight stay and a museum tour.”
His announcement came less than a month after paranormal investigator and Annabelle doll handler Dan Rivera passed away on Devils on the Run Tour. Rivera, 54, was found dead in a hotel room in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on July 13th.
According to E! News, a July 16 police report named his death “natural,” but the final cause of his death will not be determined until the autopsy is complete.
In three standalone films about Annabelle, the doll is given as a gift to a nursing student who has noticed a strange event in the doll. According to the New England Psychic Research Association, the nurse and her roommates pronounce the doll “devilly own it,” and “deleting it from the house and putting it in a glass box.” Ed Warren passed away at 79 in 2006, and Lorraine Warren died at 92 in 2019.
The New England Psychic Research Association did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
