The former Minnesota Viking, who runs through Adrian Peterson, was arrested Friday morning on a misdemeanor drunken driving charge.
Peterson attended the Vikings’ NFL Draft Party Thursday night and was booked at 5:16am after Minnesota patrol officers arrested him. He was charged with driving four times while under disabilities.
Peterson was stopped for speeding and then pulled around 3:20am, reaching 83mph in the 55mph zone, according to Lt. Mike Lee, on patrol for the Minnesota State Highway. He then took a breath test showing a blood alcohol level of 0.14, Lee said.
Peterson posted a $4,000 bond and was released.
The Viking held a draft party at Downtown Stadium in Minneapolis on Thursday night. There, Peterson was one of the teams invited by the alumni. During the event, Peterson appeared on local radio station KFAN for an interview.
Peterson was selected seventh overall by Minnesota in the 2007 NFL Draft and spent 10 seasons with his team. He is one of the most decorated players in Viking history and won the NFL MVP honors in 2012.
His time in Minnesota was also plagued by off-field troubles. Peterson was arrested for three traffic violations between 2009 and 2011, twice for speeding and once for not wearing a seat belt.
In November 2014, Peterson admitted to a dispute over a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault in Texas after admitting to switching his then-4-year-old son by surprise. He played only one game that year and was suspended for the rest of the season by the NFL.
After spending the final five years of his career with six different teams, Peterson retired after the 2021 season.
Peterson’s next scheduled court date is May 9th.
