Actor Christy Carlson Romano says she was shot in the face while shooting a clay dove with her husband, showing her bloody eyes in a new video.
In a clip posted to Instagram on Saturday, the former Disney Channel star explained that she and her husband Brendan Rooney were filmed in Texas for her birthday.
“So I was shot in the eyes, it wasn’t funny,” she began the video. I’m safe. ”
Romano hurt what appeared to be a small cut under her eyes, explaining that “it’s still inside.” She showed the other parts of her face, including “snippets.”
In the caption, she said the fragment that stayed behind her eyes was “too dangerous” to be surgically removed at this point, adding that she can now “see normally.”
“I am very grateful to the entire first responder. So they are the most amazing, superhero people who take care of us in our most hopeless times,” she said.
Romano continued to show her eye injuries. “This is really bad tonight. Everything’s sort of cleaning up, but I was forced to say I was shot in the face and lived to tell the story.”
“Thank you every day,” she concluded in the video.
Romano thanked Rooney in the caption and said she was hit in five places.
“Everything that happened is just how grateful I am to be alive,” she writes. “I love my daughter, husband, family and friends. I watch my life flash in front of my eyes, I tell you, all the opportunities you can have around you I embrace people. Life can change very quickly.”
In a follow-up Instagram Story post, Romano expressed his gratitude and warned people to be “safe” ahead of the Super Bowl celebration.
“I want to thank the people who are supportive. I feel love and I will send it back,” she began. “This is scary, and your positivity makes sense for my healing.”
She continued. “Tomorrow is a big celebration for everyone. Please be safe while celebrating. And tell people near you that you love them for me.”
Commenting on her wife’s first Instagram post, Rooney wrote that she was “the bravest, toughest, most stoic and baddest woman I’ve ever met.”
“I’m so grateful that you’re alive. I’m so grateful that you’re a mother to our children,” he continued, referring to their two children. “I don’t know what to do without you. I love you more than life itself.”
On his own Instagram, Rooney shared a clip of Romano to his story, writing, “I’ll kiss your loved one.”
