Bad Bunny helped a couple get married in a special way during the Super Bowl halftime show.
The man and woman, who appeared on the field during the show wearing white tuxedos and wedding dresses, actually got married during Bad Bunny’s performance on Sunday, his rep said in a news release.
The duo, who are not named in the release, sent the Puerto Rican music sensation an invitation to their wedding, but ended up receiving an invitation to the halftime show instead.
The couple married live, with Bad Bunny signing the marriage certificate and serving the wedding cake, “turning the moment into a joyful celebration that unfolded in real time,” the news release said.
It’s unclear whether some of the people in the background of the on-field wedding were friends and family, or simply backup dancers for the performance itself.
Either way, the moment seemed to bring joy to many viewers online, adding even more excitement to Bad Bunny’s well-received show.
On Sunday, the six-time Grammy Award winner became the first Spanish-Latin solo artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Bad Bunny (real name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio) performed for the first time in Miami at the 2020 Super Bowl with headliners Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, giving an unforgettable performance that showcased the strength of Latin music and its growing mainstream success.
When Bad Bunny was announced as this year’s headliner in September, he drew criticism from a few conservative pundits and Fox News commentators. But on Sunday, he emphasized a message of unity while paying homage to his Puerto Rican roots.
Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin also joined in during the performance.
Celebrities Alix Earle, Cardi B, David Grutman, Karol G, Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, Ronald Acuña Jr., and Young Miko also made cameos.
