Artificial intelligence and blockchain are disrupting legacy education systems by expanding access to education through alternative credential systems and AI-powered content.

John von Seggern, an online educator and founder of The FutureProof Music School, an online school that teaches students how to make electronic music, is currently using AI assistants to help students structure and supplement their courses.

The educator told Cointelegraph that he plans to deploy blockchain-based credentials for those completing his education course, providing evidence that he completed the program and gained a good understanding of the material.

“I was involved in getting my last school accreditation and I saw a lot of issues in the process,” he told Cointelegraph.

According to a report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), “There is significant momentum around the world to use blockchain technology to issue, share and verify educational experiences and qualifications.” The author writes:

“Blockchain technology allows anyone to verify claims about an individual or institution, including their characteristics and qualifications, and do this immediately with a very high level of certainty.”

“This helps eliminate record fraud. It will encourage learner and workers movements between institutions and regions and strengthen individuals by increasing control over data,” the report continued. Analysts say the combination of blockchain and AI is set up to disrupt education, healthcare and content creation.

Other crypto projects leverage blockchain and AI for education

Blockchain credentials combined with AI-powered content provide students with borderless verifiability and more affordable classes.

In January, Open Campus launched its layer 3 blockchain, the EDU Chain, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that uses blockchain for educational applications.

EDU chains are used to store tamper-proof, immutable, verifiable on-chain student qualifications and certificates.

At Token2049 in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Binance co-founder CZ said he wanted to teach 1 billion children through Giggle Academy, a free online platform that provides education for children.

CZ added that Generator AI played a central role in creating course content for the Giggle Academy project.
