A senior Trump official ordered a true society in May for a visit aimed at touring Alcatraz Island off the coast of California and measuring the likelihood of returning the national park to prison.

FoxNews accompanied Attorney General Pam Bondy and Interior Secretary Doug Burgham, as they toured federal facilities that were closed as federal prisons in 1963, according to the Prison Bureau. It has been operated as a national park since 1972.

“It’s federal property. Since its original use was a prison, part of this is testing the feasibility of reverting to its original use,” said Burgham, who oversees the national park.

Trump had directed federal officials to “reopen to significantly expand and rebuild Alcatraz and to house America’s most ruthless and violent criminals.”

Bondi repeatedly called during the tour, informing Fox News that if people in the facility reopen, it would include “the worst and worst.”

“It could hold middle class violent prisoners. It could hold – it could hold illegal aliens. It could hold anything. It can hold (it) a great facility, but no one knows to escape from Alcatraz and survive,” Bondy said.

During his time as a prison, Alcatraz had more than 300 abilities and was designed to house “the most dangerous criminals.” However, not only was it difficult to send supplies to the island, but the high operating costs led to the closure.

California officials doubt the facility could reopen as a prison, Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement:
