Kenneth Chesebro, former legal counsel for Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential election, has been banned from practicing law in New York about his role in his plan to overturn Trump’s election loss five years ago.

In Thursday’s order, the New York state court of appeals said it was conspiring to file false documents in connection with Chesebro’s criminal acts, namely, efforts to deny Trump’s 2020 defeat to Joe Biden.

Chesebro first approved law practice in New York in 2007. His committee will soon be effective, the order said.

When Chesebro pleaded with Georgia prosecutors in 2023, he pleaded guilty to one count of a conspiracy to file false documents after being charged with seven counts.

Trump pleaded not guilty to cases that included indictment against him, Chesebro and 17 others. The lawsuit was stagnated this year due to Trump’s election victory in November and the removal of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as prosecutor.

“The Cavaliers’ attitudes regarding his actions have greatly exacerbated his actions,” the court, which initially suspended Chesebro in New York last year, said in an order Thursday. “In the face of his extensive background, especially in the field of constitutional and election law, has greatly exacerbated his actions.”

The official, tasked with compiling reports on evidence and testimony, challenged the arguments from Chessebro’s lawyers, according to the order.

The court said, “Despite efforts to combat the accused’s account of being a Trump “architect” to overturn the 2020 election, the testimony and documentary evidence generated at the hearing stated that the respondents’ legal analysis and implementation guidelines promoted the effort, and that the testimony and documentary evidence in full support of such claims.”

Chesebro’s attorneys did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday night.

Chesebro is one of many Trump allied lawyers who were punished for his involvement in Trump’s election intervention efforts.

Rudy Giuliani was debated in New York and rejected in Washington, DC, and Jenna Ellis was banned from practicing law in Colorado after pleading guilty in relation to Trump’s efforts to overturn the election.
