Republican leader and billionaire businessman Donald Trump becomes the first sitting US president to own a meme coin.

It may be magical internet money, but the president has some.

Upon his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump will become the only sitting US leader in history to own meme coins.

Arkham reported that there are approximately $8 million worth of meme coins in Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency wallet. The White House returnee owns $5.5 million in TROG tokens, $1.5 million in TRUMP memes, 1.3 billion GUA coins worth about $400,000, and $167,000 in TRUMPIUS.

Donald Trump was once a cryptocurrency skeptic. Things changed in 2024 when a Republican president publicly supported Bitcoin (BTC) and promised to protect the right to own Bitcoin.

The tycoon launched a non-fungible token on the Ethereum network and made thousands of dollars in Ether (ETH) from NFTs. His wallet contained 496.77 ETH, worth about $1.6 million at the time of publication.

Many hope and expect that the Trump administration will introduce a clear digital asset regulatory regime. Donald Trump’s nominees for SEC chairman, such as Paul Atkins, and appointments such as crypto czar David Sachs signal the creation of a crypto-focused approach.

Industry leaders also reportedly donated to President Trump’s inauguration and encouraged him to sign an executive order within his first 100 days. The requested order creates the US Bitcoin Reserve.
