Enthusiasts of cryptocurrency might soon have reason to celebrate as early results from the 2024 U.S. elections indicate that numerous pro-crypto candidates have secured positions in Congress.

This development comes as the cryptocurrency sector demonstrates its growing political and financial clout, investing over $238 million to enhance its presence within the U.S. legislative process.

Financial Support Fuels Key Senate Campaigns

According to initial forecasts from Fox News Decision Desk and live updates from the Stand With Crypto website, pro-cryptocurrency candidates are witnessing notable success across various states.

Recently counted results show that 247 pro-crypto candidates have won seats in the House of Representatives, outpacing 113 of their opponents. In the Senate, 15 pro-crypto candidates are currently leading their races, compared to just 10 candidates opposed to cryptocurrency initiatives.

Political action committees (PACs) linked with the digital asset industry have significantly contributed to several high-stakes Senate races. For instance, Republican Bernie Moreno successfully defeated Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown in the Ohio Senate race, which aligns with Elizabeth Warren.

The pro-crypto super PAC, Defend American Jobs, reportedly invested $40.1 million to support Moreno’s campaign. Notable contributions also came from Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and recognized venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Chris Dixon.

Moving beyond the Senate, funding from cryptocurrency sources has notably impacted various congressional contests, helping candidates who champion blockchain and digital assets to succeed.

In Indiana, Republican Jim Banks earned his Senate seat with notable backing from the American Jobs PAC, which contributed $3 million to his campaign. Additionally, $2 million was directed towards John Curtis in Utah, who is stepping in for Mitt Romney.

On the Democratic side, Representatives Richie Torres and Dan Goldman, both vocal supporters of cryptocurrencies, successfully maintained their seats with financial backing from Protect Progress PAC. Specifically, Protect Progress contributed $150,853 to Goldman’s campaign and $110,148 to Torres’s, highlighting the cross-party support for cryptocurrency.

Support for Pro-Crypto Candidates Across the Nation

In California, Democratic candidate Adam Schiff, recognized as a firm advocate for cryptocurrencies, is competing against Republican Steve Garvey in the Senate race. Schiff emerged victorious, amassing over 5.1 million votes.

Schiff was joined in his triumph by Ted Cruz, who won re-election in Texas, defeating Democrat Colin Allred by a margin of over 900,000 votes. Cruz is known for his support of Bitcoin and has previously pushed for Texas to become a “crypto haven.” Furthermore, various representatives in Texas’s 15th, 28th, 32nd, and 34th Congressional Districts, including Rep. Monica de la Cruz, Rep. Henry Cuellar, Rep. Julie Johnson, and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, are noted proponents of virtual currencies.

Matt Gaetz, known for proposing legislation that would allow federal income tax payments via Bitcoin, also triumphed in Florida’s 1st Congressional District, defeating Democrat Gay Vallimont by more than 133,000 votes. In total, 21 pro-crypto candidates are anticipated to secure seats in Florida, with only six others likely to win.

Most states are still in the process of counting votes, and a clearer picture is expected to emerge in the coming days as close races draw to conclusion.
