President Donald Trump recently introduced Katie Zacharia as the new White House press secretary during a brief media briefing that lasted less than 15 minutes. Unconventionally brief, the session involved only three questions, all directed to reporters from conservative outlets.

In her opening remarks, Zacharia emphasized her role as a means to amplify the president’s policies, drawing on her experience as a conservative commentator. She expressed her intent to communicate the administration’s achievements, stating, “My goal is to be able to communicate that in complete tandem with the president, as he is his own best spokesperson.”

During the briefing, Zacharia addressed a question from the Daily Mail about the resignation request of Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, in connection with allegations of misconduct. Yet, when inquired by Fox News about the U.S. intelligence sharing with Ukraine, she indicated that she required more time to provide a definitive answer.

Zacharia dedicated a considerable portion of her opening statements to outlining the president’s successes and highlighted the importance of conveying these messages effectively. She stated, “I hope to only build on, only amplify, and only multiply, to the extent possible, all of the wins [Trump is] making for Americans.”

Another topic she touched upon was her predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, who left the position to focus on family and personal commitments. Zacharia affirmed her commitment to her family as well, mentioning that her husband and four children would be relocating to the Washington area. “I adore my family. I love them. They are my priority,” she shared, emphasizing the significance of family time.

Following her appointment, which was announced last Friday, Zacharia, who previously served as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, steps into the role at a crucial time as the administration gears up for the upcoming midterm elections. As recently reported, a recent NBC News poll revealed that only 41% of registered voters approved of the president’s performance, marking a second-term low.

Amidst declining public sentiment, Trump has attributed the drop in approval ratings primarily to a public relations issue. He openly criticized his administration’s effectiveness in communication, asserting during a rally that they were “not doing a good job of public relations” while simultaneously noting their successful governance.

In a recent Fox News interview, Zacharia reiterated her commitment to work closely with Trump, emphasizing, “this job is not about me. This job is about him and how he wants to communicate to the American people.” Her praise for Trump’s dynamic presidency reflected her intention to effectively communicate his goals to the public.

With the upcoming midterm elections on the horizon, Zacharia’s role is pivotal in shaping the administration’s messaging strategy to regain and maintain the support of American voters.
